DuPont State Forest

Hiked in DuPont yesterday.  We hiked Reasonover Creek, Turkey Knob and Poplar Hill Loop.  It was 6.6 M and 786 EG.  It was a nice hike with not many views.  There is a pretty big creek crossing but it has lots of rocks to help you over.  Some can be slippery.  There is an old car on the Poplar Hill Loop trail that makes for good photos. Not something you usually see on a trail.

Foothills Trail Boat/Hike

This was a key swap hike.  One person in group 1 drove someone's car from group 2 to Devil's Fork.  One person in group 2 drove someone's car in group 1 to the Laurel Fork Gap Trailhead.  I was in the group that started at Devil's Fork SP.  We got on the boat and drove around the lake and looked at Laurel Fork Falls.  Then the boat dropped us off to begin the hike.  We hiked along the foothills trail making a detour to Virginia Hawkins Falls.  I started my GPS a little late but most got around 5.2 for mileage.  I got 892 EG.  Along the way we passed the other group and exchanged keys back.  It was a great day and the trail was nice with a lot of bridges for the water crossings.  We did see some hunters along the way so may want to wear orange to stand out.

Moses Cone - Flat Top Tower Trail

Hiked from Moses Cone Manor to the Flat Top Tower Trail and the up to the Flat top tower.  I forgot to start my GPS at the beginning so I missed a little of the track.  It's basically all uphill to the tower and then all downhill back to the car.  Made a little detour on the way down to the gravesite.  I got 4.5M and 459EG but again started late.  Another hiker started the tracking earlier and got 5.4M and 699 EG which is more accurate than mine.  That trek is below mine.

Julian Price Memorial Park - Price Lake Trail

Did the loop hike around the lake.  Lots of color this time of year.  It ended up being 2.6M and 173EG.  A nice flat trail around the lake.

Blowing Rock, NC - Glen Burney Trail

This trail started in downtown Blowing Rock and seemed to be an old sewer trail from the early 1900s.  It was very well marked and went to a cascade, upper and lower Glen Marie Falls, and Glen Burney Falls.  Saw a rainbow at the bottom of Glen Burney Falls.  It's an in and out trail with a little off shoot to see Glen Burney Falls.  It ended up being 2.3M and 590EG.
