Did the JFA trail today (5.73 Miles, 535 EG). They have arrows that indicate which way hikers and bikers should go so you don't go the same direction. Always bear for hikers to move out of the way when bikers come by. This trail surrounds Camp Spearhead so make sure to stay on designated trails if camp is in session.
Today I lead a hike with my hiking group. We went to Yellow Branch Falls (3.1 Miles, 350 EG) and then across the street to the Stumphouse tunnel area and did the Blue Ridge Rail Trail, Issaqueena Falls and Stumphouse tunnel (4.6 Miles 325 EG). Yellow Branch Falls had a lot of water today. On the rail trail you are able to crawl into middle tunnel and then stand up inside which is fun. The tunnel at the end (Saddle Tunnel) is underwater but still fun to see.
Yellow Branch Falls:
Started the hike on this hot Saturday on the Frank Coggins Trail. Then continued on the Cold spring Connector to Cold spring Trail. Then towards Raven Cliff Falls parking and then over to Silver Steps Parking. Finished up with the Silver Steps trail to where it connects with Jones Gap SP. Then we followed all the trails back to the car. It was an in and out hike. It ended up being 7 Miles with 1355 EG. It's the orange trail in the map below. The cold spring connector trail was very step and coming back up was strenuous.
