Lake Trail at Oconee SP

Hiked the trail around the lake at Oconee SP.  Saw some flowers including Oconee Bells, fish, evidence of beavers, and Turtles.  It is 1.6M with 29EG so basically a flat trail.  It has some boardwalks along the trail as well.

King Creek Falls via Cherry Hill Campground & Burrells Ford

Hiked from Cherry Hill Campground to Burrel's Ford.  Checked out King Creek Falls along the way.  Some volunteers for the Foothills trail were bringing in lumber to rebuild a bridge from Hurricane Helene.  We were able to rock hop across the water to get across.  Lot of views of the Chatooga River along the way.  Ended up being 6.1M and 579EG.

Chimney Top Gap to Sassafras Mtn

Hiked along the Foothills trail from Chimney Top Gap to Sassafras Mountain.  It's mostly uphill to the top.  There is a great 360° view at the top from the observation tower.  They also have signs at the top indicating what mountain you are viewing.  You can also stand on the border of SC and NC.  This is the highest point in SC.  The Foothills trail is a white blaze trail.  The hike is 5 M with 1155 EG.

Clemson Forest

During the winter until about mid-march the road into the forest is closed. They do have a parking area past the road that you can still park.  We parked outside the gate and walked in and did a little road and then did a loop and went to the dam.  It ended up being 7 M and 480 EG.  It was just various trails to make up the loop.

Gorges SP - Upper Bearwallow, Rainbow, Turtleback, and Drift Falls

This is always a nice hike because you see 4 Waterfalls.  First hike is from the visitor center to the Upper Bearwallow Falls platform and back.  The drive over to the Rainbow Falls Trailhead to go to the next three waterfalls.  Rainbow Falls is always spectacular.  Turtleback Falls is fun because you can see people slide down sometimes.  Even with doing this hike in March there was one person sliding down.  Drift Falls is on private property but you can see it well without going on the property.  The first hike was 2 M 461 EG.  The second hike was 4.3 M 758 EG.
