Chinquapin Mountain

 This hike is in Highlands NC and starts at the top of the Glen Falls Trailhead.  It goes up to 5 lookouts.  Lookout number 5 is the best.  We didn't go down lookout 1 or 2.  We did the trail like a lollipop trail.  Lots of water crossings.  I think we counted 8-9.  It's the purple trail below.  It was 3.5 M with 690 EG.

Gorges SP

 Went to Gorges SP on Saturday.  A little foggy but a great day.  All the falls were roaring with all the rain we have gotten lately.  First we went to Upper Bearwallow falls.  You home from the visitor center to a platform to view the falls.  Then we went to another parking area and hiked to Rainbow, Turtleback, and Drift falls.  I forgot to turn on my GPS for the first hike but it's about 2 Miles and 600EG.  The 2nd part is 4.3 Miles and 758 EG.  The gray in the map below is the Rainbow falls trail.  At one point you leave Gorges SP and are in Pisgah National Forest but it's all the same trail.

Carvers Gap

Camped at Roan Mountain SP the last weekend in April.  While there we hiked from Carvers Gap to Grassy Ridge.  Beautiful mountain views the entire way.  It was about 10-15° colder than at the camp site and very windy.  Part of the hike was on the Appalachian trail.  It was 4.8 M with 1013 EG.  Three different mountain peaks along the way.  In the map below the trail is the white line with orange border.  Then the elevation profile is below.
