Blowing Rock, NC - Glen Burney Trail

This trail started in downtown Blowing Rock and seemed to be an old sewer trail from the early 1900s.  It was very well marked and went to a cascade, upper and lower Glen Marie Falls, and Glen Burney Falls.  Saw a rainbow at the bottom of Glen Burney Falls.  It's an in and out trail with a little off shoot to see Glen Burney Falls.  It ended up being 2.3M and 590EG.

Blue Ridge Parkway - Crabtree Falls

The Crabtree Falls trailhead is located a MM 339.5.  It's a strenuous hike that you can either do an in and out hike or a loop.  We did the loop hike which seemed a little easier than going back the same way which would be all uphill.  It ended up being 2.8 M and 520 EG.

Florence Nature Preserve

Hiked a loop trail at Florence Nature Preserve in Hendersonville last weekend.  It was 5.3 M and 1145 EG.  Went to the two overlooks but not much of a view at this time of year because of the leaves.  Winter would be a better time for the views.  Well marked trails with different colors for the different trails.

Lake Whelchel

Led a hike around Lake Whelchel in Gaffney today.  From the parking lot you walk a little trail that dead ends on the lake loop.  Then you can go either way on the loop to go around the entire lake.  It's a 7.91M hike with very little elevation (280 ft).  The weather was great today and the lake views were great.

The trail is part of the Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail which traces the route used by patriot militia during the Kings Mountain campaign of 1780.

Gorges SP

Well today's hike didn't go as planned.  Started out on the trail to Rainbow falls.  Before getting to the falls everyone was warning us about yellow jacket nests and some were saying they got stung.  Right before getting there we saw a couple people that had just gotten stung.  So a friend and I decided to turn around and not continue in order not to get stung.  We went back down the trail a little ways and had lunch on a rock next to the water.  Then we continued back up the trail and took a side trail to Stairway Falls.  Then before turning to go back to the parking lot we went down Raymond Fisher trail for a little while and then turned around and headed back to the trailhead.  Ended up with 4.5 Miles and 745 EG.  In the picture below it's the dark blue line that we hiked today.

Victoria Bryant SP in Georgia

Hiked various trails in Victoria Bryant SP in Georgia today (6.9 Miles 571 EG).  Started out on Perimeter trail (parked by entrance to park), then did the inner loop trail to the connector trail, and a little bit of the perimeter trail before turning around.  We then took the interloop trail back to the Perimeter Orange trail before making it to the Broad River loop trail.  After completing that trail we headed back to the Perimeter Orange trail to head back to the car.  Had never been here so got a little turned around but made a good hike out of it.  Some of the trails were a little washed out but a nice park.
